Ethnography

The ,,Ethnography’’ department was created in 1968.

We have collected samples of Pernik’s material and spiritual culture. Traditional fabrics, clothing, crafts, calendar holidays, traditions, and healing practices have been explored. The collections ,,Fabrics and rugs’’, ,,Folk costumes’’, ,,Jewelry’’, ,,Earthenware from Busintzi’’, and ,,Farming tools’’ are compiled. A detailed study on the ,,Surva’’ festival has been conducted. Folksongs and folk wisdom, performed by beloved singers and storytellers, are recorded. The department possesses an exquisite holding of more than 8300 movable properties.
